100+ Shepherds Saved from the Hands of a Monster
On December 29, Big Dog Ranch Rescue was alerted to extreme animal cruelty at an East Texas breeding operation known as Giant German Shepherd Ranch, owned by Kristine Hicks. We acted immediately. Because Big Dog Ranch Rescue formed a new Federal Animal Cruelty Task Force in December, this case was elevated without delay to the highest levels of government. That task force includes U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, Lara Trump, Secretary

California Wildfires and Texas Freeze
Our journey began in California , where the wildfires had wreaked havoc and left countless animals in need. Shelters in LA already overwhelmed, we partnered with local rescues to help ease the amount of dogs in their shelter. By taking in dogs from our rescue partner in California, we helped create space for our Palm Springs partner to take in even more dogs from the LA area, offering them a chance at a better life. While heading back from California, we learned of dogs tra

TEXAS BORDER DOG NIGHTMARE
Dogs at the border are more than just strays — they are family members left behind. The Nightmare The mass migration into America isn’t just a human tragedy anymore. Thousands and thousands of dogs left behind by immigrants are roaming the streets freezing, hungry, injured and even giving birth. These discarded dogs are hit by cars, shot, and attacked with machetes as they try to simply survive. Big Dog Ranch Rescue just returned from another border mission and we can report

We thank all the volunteers, the media, and the community all coming together to make this a successful mission! Thank you to all of our hard working staff, who are essential to all of the daily happenings at the Ranch. Ukraine Rescue Mission
Big Dog Ranch Rescue has opened a temporary Border Shelter in Poznan, Poland and is coordinating transports of Ukrainians and abandoned dogs left behind in bombed-out cities. We have receiving partners in Sweden, Switzerland and the UK, and so far have transported 11 Romanian dogs to BDRR in the United States to help relieve space. Leading up to this, Big Dog Ranch Rescue partnered with multiple dog shelters and animal rescue groups in Ukraine, Poland, and Romania, sending fo

Golden Retrievers & Bulldogs arrive from Asia
Happy dogs arrive at Big Dog Ranch Rescue from China over 8,000 miles away and they are so excited to touch down! Purebred poodles, French and English bulldogs, golden retrievers, and Samoyeds are smelling the roses…and lapping up the sunshine… as they are greeted by over 40 smiling and loving volunteers and veterinary staff. Many already have homes and others available for adoption.

Puerto Rico Rescues
Three years ago, Big Dog Ranch Rescue received a call from Puerto Rico from a group called El Foster Club. Thousands of people were fleeing the islands because of the hurricanes and leaving their dogs in the streets, at shelters, and with family members. El Foster Club could not pair dogs with fosters fast enough and the need had surpassed their capabilities. Big Dog Ranch Rescue was able to help by fundraising to get dogs off the island through cargo planes and as passengers

Rescue Roadtrip
“Alone we can do so little together we can do so much.” This summer Big Dog Ranch Rescue took to the road to save 100 dogs. The result? 261 dogs from multiple shelters got their freedom ride and we had the chance to speak to the people who are doing the hard work in rural parts of Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. For 4th of July we decided the best way to celebrate was to give FREEDOM to as many deserving lives as possible. Our community rallied behind us to raise over $5

Voice for the Voiceless
In mid-August of 2020, Big Dog Ranch Rescue received a heartbreaking call. Rescues in the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas, St. John, Tortola, and Vieques, were facing hard decisions. COVID and a very unpredictable hurricane season were presenting new challenges to their small but mighty rescue facilities. With tourism to the island closed, donors, adopters, and potential transporters went from thousands during the busy season to a screeching halt of zero. When we received the call

Asia Meat Dog Rescue
The slaughterhouses in Asia are operating in full force and tens of thousands of dogs are earmarked for death, enduring a horrible “life” of painful suffering, torture and cruelty as they await their fate. Despite misleading recent announcements that dogs have been taken off the agricultural list, the horrific practice of killing dogs for human consumption still continues every single day. Thousands of innocent dogs are being boiled, skinned, beaten, and burned alive, moments

COVID-19 Campaign 2500
Coronavirus has increased the risk to dogs all around the world. During these difficult, emotional times, we are their family, and their only hope. And we need your help. Coronavirus has postponed indefinitely or canceled the fundraisers that keep Big Dog Ranch Rescue running. This has forced us to layoff 40% of our incredible and dedicated staff, reduce salaries and even close parts of the campus. But it’s the dogs who truly suffer. We care for an average of 600 dogs but h

Hurricane Dorian Relief
After Hurricane Dorian devastated the Bahamas last year, we rushed to the aid. With our team of wonderful staff and volunteers, we saved over 160 dogs from the islands, reunited more than 65 animals with their beyond-ecstatic owners, brought more than 150,000 pounds of supplies over, sent two vehicles over, and we also helped to rebuild the Bahamas Humane Society. By yacht, by cruise ship, and by planes, we worked daily to make a difference.
